Smart assistants

Overview

We have developed a system to automatically classify and tag photos: an AI-based system to automatically generate theme tags of photos (category, subcategory, keywords) and text descriptions. In this project, we have explored how to channel language technologies towards analysing images and photographs.

Challenge

This innovative system combines Computer Vision with Natural Language Processing (NLP) to “understand” the content of each photograph. Whenever the system receives an image, it automatically identifies what is taking place in it, and creates the corresponding description and theme tags with great accuracy.

Collaboration

It has been developed in collaboration with the FOKU photographic agency. This project received funding through the Applied Artificial Intelligence call (2025) launched by SPRI (Basque Business Development Agency).

Result

Thanks to this innovation, FOKU's document management will be much more efficient, allowing its vast collection of images to be organised and retrieved more quickly, more coherently and more accurately.
