Easy-read system for Donostia.eus:
The main aim of the project is to automatically adapt the Basque texts on the new website of San Sebastián City Council to easy-read format. The developed system uses LLM models to simplify the texts, provide a more understandable structure and create more accessible versions for the public. Following this automatic process it is envisaged that a manual review phase will be necessary to ensure the quality, suitability and fidelity of the texts.

Overview
The main aim of the project is to automatically adapt the Basque texts on the new website of San Sebastián City Council to easy-read format. The developed system uses LLM models to simplify the texts, provide a more understandable structure and create more accessible versions for the public. Following this automatic process it is envisaged that a manual review phase will be necessary to ensure the quality, suitability and fidelity of the texts.
Challenge
The greatest challenge was to automate this task reliably, as the text must be simplified in Basque without losing content, to maintain the linguistic quality and preserve the structure of the documents, as well as ensure consistency with the Spanish result.
Collaboration
It was developed in collaboration with San Sebastián City Council.
Result
The result of the project is a functional pipeline for processing texts in easy-read format, that is capable of pre-processing the documents, adapting them using LLMs and evaluating the results. The pipeline offers the possibility of using Claude 3.7, Latxa-Llama-70B and Llama-eus-8B models.
