Collaboration

  • Osakidetza (Public Health Service of the Basque Autonomous Community)
  • HiTZ Centre
  • Elhuyar

Result

Osakidetza (public health service of the Basque Autonomous Community) has launched a neural machine translator for its professionals to translate into Spanish medical consultation information provided in Basque. Itzulbide translates the information gathered in Basque in patients' medical records into Spanish quickly and easily. The system makes it easier for medical consultations with patients to be conducted in Basque; it enables professionals to work in Basque in corporate applications such as medical records; and it provides non-bilingual professionals who need to access this information with a tool that accurately translates clinical texts into Spanish.
